Christine has given us a wonderful way to help children and families explore a topic that eventually comes up in most adoptions of older children - the loss of the early months or years with the adopted child, or the loss of arriving in the family at birth. Children and parents mourn many missed moments like a first step, a first word, first haircut, etc. Christine helps parents and children talk about these losses. Also, as the book is read, sons, daughters, Moms and Dads readily shift from the sadness to the glee of the "firsts" that did occur upon and after the adoption. This leads to much laughter as an array of experiences are reviewed. Through the feelings and the discussion, attachment is nicely enhanced. Welcome Home is certainly the best children's book available! Welcome it into your home today!

Brothers and Sisters in Adoption After expressing their excitement at welcoming their new child home, the parents acknowledge that they missed significant events and milestones in the child's early years. The family then cheerfully looks forward to the experiences and `firsts' they will share and the memories they will make together. Throughout the book, the parents promise to love, nurture, and protect their child. Finally, the family reiterates their joy at welcoming their Forever Child into his or her Forever Family.

very appropriate book for adopted kids - David L. Frazee - LODI, CA, US
After reading this book i felt like the author hit the nail on the head. The wording was sweet and done quite poetic. The message was clear that the child was wanted and desired by the family and that they will be loved for life. The pictures of the humanoid cat family made for cute illustrations of the story.
